Synopsis:

The film AFRICAN HEART is a raw, captivating look into the life of an African girl, who is a victim of the traditions that weave her destiny.

After a childhood damaged by parents who did not know how to protect her, Sherifa realizes that she cannot embrace their way of life as her own.  So, on the day of her forced marriage, Sherifa flees her family and friends to the "big city".  When the secret of her circumcision revealed, she realizes nothing will ever be the same again.  In search of better horizons, Sherifa faces cruelties that drive her into the world of prostitution.  Will she survive?
